Mr. Nitin Potdar is a Partner in J. Sagar Associates Mumbai and heads the M&A Practice team in Mumbai. He specialises in public and private mergers and acquisitions, including de-mergers, restructuring of business, asset & share purchase deals, joint ventures and strategic alliances, private equity and general corporate advisory.

Nitin has a vast experience with transactions related to Foreign Direct Investments and strategic alliances. He has advised several multinational companies on strategies for financial and technical collaborations in India, in a cross section of industries including entertainment, pharma, IT, FMCG, engineering, automobile and cement.

He is a keen observer of the evolution of the law regulating Takeovers in India. He has been part of several high profile corporate takeover battles including, defending hostile bids.

Nitin also has extensive experience in private equity transactions on behalf of foreign and domestic funds including leveraged buyout transactions and exit options. He has provided strategic and business oriented advice to a variety of companies receiving private equity investment.

Prior to joining JSA, Nitin was a partner with Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. Prior thereto, he worked with Crawford Bayley & Co.

Nitin is a frequent speaker at several conferences and seminars organized by leading industry, institutions, and chambers on subjects like, Takeover Code, M&A, and structuring of joint ventures. He has also authored articles and discussion papers on these topics.
